OKAY! Here we go.
I received a full size Boots Botanics Ionic Clay Mask in the box...it looks like such (clicky the pic to go to their website about it)
Its your normal squeezy tube filled with clay mask substance. I will say this - make sure you shake the crud out of it before applying. It was fine at first then got SUPER runny and just went all over the place. I closed it, shook and smooshed it around, then it was fine again. It was very easy to spread on my face and the dry time was about 10 minutes, just as stated on the tube.
As you can see from the picture below, the mask changes from a darker shade to a light green/grey as it is drying. Makes it super easy to tell when it is done. There is also NO SCENT at all! Talk about WONDERFUL!
For some reason this stupid patch took an extra 5 minutes or so to dry. I guess my face needed extra time there.
Once it was completely dry it was very easy to rinse away. My skin felt super soft when it was done, although a touch dry. I put on my normal moisturizing routine when I was done and left it at that.
Flash forward to the next day: I was doing a makeup look for another program I'm a part of. I noticed, HOLY CRAP MY SKIN IS FLAKY DRY!!!!!!!! ARGH! Look at my nose and along my forehead/hairline. Those are the two areas of my face that get the driest.
The only thing I did different was use that mask. I even applied extra moisturizer before I put my makeup on! Argh...
SO....while my skin felt nice and soft immediately after using the mask, it was dry as Death Valley the next day. I took my makeup off and used about two/three times as many moisture products on my face to get it back to normal. I'm sure it would be a great mask for me to use when I'm traveling to say...DC, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco...places where my face tends to get oilier. I'm going to save it for those trips (which I do have to take) rather than using here in the desert. The website says that it removes the impurities without over drying. Yea...I might try it again just to be sure it was the mask and not some other fluke making my skin turn into a flaky mess. But...first impression...eh.
I'd rate it 3 out of 5....but wouldn't spend $10 on it in the future for sure.
